Booking & payment
How do I book a trip?
Send an enquiry or call us. We'll check availability, answer your questions, and send you a booking form along with the full trip details. Your seat is held once we receive the booking form and your deposit, and we send written confirmation within two business days.
How much is the deposit?
Road trips need a $300 deposit per person, and flight trips need $750 per person. The balance is due 60 days before departure for road trips and 90 days before for flight trips. A few trips with hard-to-get hotels or permits, like Mardi Gras and the Balloon Fiesta, have firmer terms, which are shown on the booking form.
Why do prices say "from"?
Our prices are per person, based on two people sharing a room. If you'd like a room to yourself, there's a single supplement, and we list it on each trip page. On flight trips, the price assumes you fly from DFW or Houston. Other airports may cost more or less.
Can I pay in installments?
Yes. After your deposit, you can pay whatever you like whenever you like, as long as the full balance arrives by the due date. Lots of people pay a little each month.
Do you offer a land-only price on flight trips?
Yes. If you have airline miles or live outside Texas, we can quote the trip without the international flights and help you meet the group at the first hotel.
Who our trips suit
I'm traveling solo. Is that okay?
Very much so. A good share of our travelers come alone. You can pay the single supplement for your own room, or ask us to pair you with another solo traveler of the same gender. If we can't find you a roommate, we'll tell you before the balance is due.
How fit do I need to be?
Every trip has a pace rating. "Easy" means short walks and lots of sitting. "Moderate" means a few miles of walking a day, some stairs and uneven ground. "Active" means real hikes most days. If you're unsure, call us and describe what you can comfortably do. We'll be honest.
Is there an age limit?
No upper limit. Our travelers range from their twenties to their eighties. Travelers under 18 need to be with a parent or guardian, and some trips aren't well suited to young kids. Ask us.
Can you handle dietary needs?
Tell us when you book. Vegetarian, gluten-free and most allergies are straightforward to handle. Strict diets can be harder in some rural areas, so we'll let you know what to expect on your trip.
On the trip
Who leads the trip?
Every departure has a WeSellATour leader who stays with you the whole time. On road trips, the leader is usually also the driver-guide. On flight trips, we add licensed local guides in each city or region.
What about tipping?
Tips aren't included, because people prefer to tip based on the service they receive. We send you a suggested range for each trip before you go, so you can plan for it.
How much free time is there?
Most trips have at least a few free afternoons or evenings. We think part of traveling well is having time to wander around. Your leader always has suggestions if you want them.
What if the weather ruins a day?
We change the plan. Our leaders always have a backup, and for weather-sensitive activities like balloon rides or ice caves, we build in a second chance where we can. Some things, like the northern lights, nobody can promise.
Road trips
Where do road trips leave from?
Each trip page lists its departure city, usually Austin, San Antonio, Houston or Dallas. We can sometimes arrange pickups along the route. For trips that start with a flight, like Utah or the California coast, we meet you at the arrival airport.
What are the vans like?
They're modern 12-passenger vans with air conditioning, USB charging and big windows. We sell a maximum of 11 seats, so there's always a spare one. Luggage goes in the back or on a trailer, depending on the trip.
How much luggage can I bring?
One medium suitcase (up to about 50 lbs) and one daypack per person. If you're a heavy packer, call us first.
Flight trips, passports & health
Do I need a passport?
For every international flight trip, yes. Your passport needs to be valid for at least six months after you return, with blank pages. Some countries also require an e-visa or electronic travel authorization. We send instructions for each one, but getting it done is your responsibility.
Do I need vaccinations?
Some destinations recommend or require them. We aren't doctors, so please see your physician or a travel clinic six to eight weeks before departure, and check the CDC's travel health pages for your destination.
Do I need travel insurance?
We strongly recommend it for every trip, and we require proof of emergency medical and evacuation coverage for our safari, Patagonia and other remote-area trips. Buy it soon after you pay your deposit, so you get the widest cancellation coverage.
Can I sit with my travel partner on the flight?
We request seats together for everyone booked as a pair, and most of the time it works. Seat assignments are ultimately up to the airline.
Still have a question? Send it to us or call (512) 555-0147. The full rules are in our booking terms and cancellation policy.
